Communications Alliance Commences Search for Next CEO

The Board of Directors of Communications Alliance Ltd has launched an executive search following the decision of current CEO, John Stanton, to not seek a further term in the role.

Communications Alliance Chair, Michael Lee, said that, after 14 years as CEO, Mr Stanton had given notice to the Board in late 2023 and would leave the position at the end of August, 2024.

“John has been an exceptional industry leader through more than a decade of unprecedented innovation and change in the Australian and global communications sector.
He has led the communications industry through a deeply transformative period, through the national disruption of the COVID pandemic and during unprecedented national bushfire and flood emergencies. The national benefits generated by the communications industry have massively expanded during John’s time as CEO, while customer protections and service excellence have also demonstrably improved.”

“He has been a clear voice for reform and is held in high regard by government, consumer and industry leaders, who value his advice,” Mr Lee said.

Mr Stanton expressed his gratitude to the many stakeholders who make up the framework of the communications sector.

“It’s been an enormous privilege to work in this role and to make a contribution to the exciting developmental journey the industry has taken since 2010. I have been fortunate to work with an expert management team, a wise and supportive Board, dynamic telco players, some excellent Ministers for Communications and with a range of regulators, Departments, consumer representatives and other important stakeholders.”

Mr Lee said Communications Alliance has now begun the search for a new CEO to guide the organisation in the next chapter for the communications industry and will consider both internal and external candidates.
