Supporting Mobile Satellite Services

The ACMA is working on arrangements to support Mobile Satellite Services operating in the 2 GHz spectrum band. The ACMA has recently sought input from industry to be informed on the extent of demand for spectrum in this band and for assistance when drafting the technical framework instruments supporting the allocation of licences. Formal consultation on the technical framework and allocation design is envisaged to commence in Q3 2024. The Communications Alliance Satellite Services Working Group has submitted a response to the ACMA providing the views of industry across a number of areas including technical parameters, coordination issues and spectrum allocations.

Comment Sought on DR C570:2024 Mobile Number Portability Industry Code

DR C570:2024

The draft C570:2024 Mobile Number Portability Industry Code is designed to provide procedures between Mobile Carriers (MC) and CSPs to enable a Customer to retain their mobile number when transferring from one CSP to another or changing MC Networks.
The Code

  • sets out the operational procedures for the implementation of MNP processes, in situations where there is a change in the Mobile Carrier Network; and
  •
  • sets minimum acceptable practices (including timeframes to port and to ensure end-to-end connectivity and call completion) which do not unnecessarily limit industry’s ability to improve on the minimum level.
