Comment Sought on Revised C540:2023 Local Number Portability Industry Code

DR C540:2023

Following additional service metrics being included, and updates to various clauses to clarify the party to which obligations apply, Communications Alliance is seeking a second round of public comment on the revised Local Number Portability Industry Code.

The Local Number Portability Code sets out operational procedures for the efficient and effective processes involved with the porting scenarios associated with Local Numbers. The Code also deals with the minimum requirements by which a Gaining CSP must abide by for Customer Authentication.

The revised C540:2023 Local Number Portability Industry Code seeks to:
  • introduce changes and updated service metrics to assist in reducing and simplifying the porting times associated with Cat A and Cat C Ports;
  • amend the Quarantine of Disconnected Numbers and Giveback process to improve Customer experience and align with the C566:2023 Number Management – Use of Numbers By Customers Industry Code;
  • clarify the response codes used in relation to certain system transactions; and
  • update the use of Local Time to Standard Time across all time value transactions.
Information on the working committee which participated in the Code development, including the Terms of Reference, can be found here.

All submissions received will be made publicly available on the Communications Alliance website unless the submitter requests otherwise.

You can use the Submit Comments form to submit your comments via email or go to the Contact Us webpage to obtain other contact methods such as by post or fax.

THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR THE DRAFT CLOSE AT 5:00 P.M. (AEDT) ON THURSDAY 23 MARCH 2023
