The WC107: PMTS and Satellite Service Customer Equipment Standards Working Committee will be addressing fifteen work items that have been identified to maintain currency with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Releases for telecommunications technology standards, alignment with other relevant international Standards and for potential changes under Australian telecommunications legislation and regulations. One item will be the consideration of existing requirements for acoustic safety.

The work items include reviewing the 3GPP Release 16 & 17 Standards, the ETSI EN Harmonised Standards, the frequency spectrum bands that IMT 2000 (4G) and IMT 2020 (5G) customer equipment operate in, the requirements for satellite services Customer Equipment, acoustic safety requirements, power-fail advice warning notice requirements, and the possibility of restructuring the Parts to better manage the Satellite Customer Equipment and emergency service access requirements.

The Working Committee will also be monitoring activities that are subject to legislative and regulatory decisions that may impact the Standard, including the cell broadcast National Messaging System, work on cyber security standards, work on the use of SMS to trigger emergency calls and the operation of Advance Mobile Location (AML), advancements in positioning technologies, the use of the SIP interface in customer equipment to convey location information for an emergency call, and finally the use of Public Land Mobile Network ID (PLMNID) by 5G private networks and emergency calls.

The Information Pack, nomination form and Terms of Reference for WC107 are available from the committee’s home page. Applications close at 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday 1 February 2023.
