Issue No 33: 5 November 2020 Improving the Telecommunications Powers and Immunities FrameworkCommunications Alliance (CA) and the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) have made a joint submission to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications (DITRDC) in response to their consultation on Improving the telecommunications powers and immunities framework. The review, among other things, seeks stakeholder feedback on how to balance both deployment and landowner needs in relation to the upcoming scale and level of investment in 5G networks. Many of the amendments proposed to improve the efficiency of telecommunications infrastructure deployment outlined in the consultation paper have been the subject of numerous discussions between industry and the DITRDC and CA/AMTA are pleased that the DITRDC’s consultation paper continues to progress these discussions towards implementation.
