Local Number Portability Code – Open for Review Comments

Communications Alliance is seeking comments for a scheduled review of the C540:2013 Local Number Portability - Incorporating Variation No.1/2016 Industry Code.

The Code sets out inter-Carrier/CSP operational procedures for the implementation of Local Number Portability processes.

The aims of the review are to identify:

  • any existing issues with the Code;
  • whether any process improvement is required, from operational experience in dealing with the Code;
  • any gaps in the Code;
  • clarifications that improve requirements;
  • whether the document is meeting the needs of industry and the community satisfactorily;
  • expected impact of technology changes; and
  • whether a need exists to amend, reconfirm or withdraw the Code.

The Code can be downloaded from here.

There are also a number of operational Guidelines which accompany the Code. These should be considered to determine if amendments are required.
