Call for nominations for Telecommunications Consumer Protection Code Revision Working Committees

Communications Alliance is calling for nominations for representatives for the Working Committees to undertake the revision of the TCP Code. The following Working Committees are to be established:

  • Contracts and Prices, Terms and Conditions
  • Billing
  • Credit Management
  • Customer Transfer
  • Complaint Handling
  • General and Compliance

It is anticipated that the Working Committees will each revise one or two chapters of the Code and their respective elements of the Guideline.  It is highly desirable for representatives to have subject matter expertise.

An Information Pack and Nomination Form are available at:

Recent Submissions

Communications Alliance has submitted joint industry responses to two recent regulatory and policy papers.  One is a submission with the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) on the ACMA consultation paper Enhanced mobile location information for the Emergency Call Service.

The second was a joint submission with AMTA and the Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum (TCF) of New Zealand on the Trans-Tasman Mobile Roaming discussion document released by the Ministry of Economic Development of New Zealand and the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy of Australia.

The submissions can be downloaded from www.commsalliance.com.au/Documents/Submissions

The ACMA Reconnecting the Customer Public Inquiry

Communications Alliance today welcomed the release of the terms of reference for the ACMA Reconnecting the Customer Public Inquiry.

Communications Alliance CEO John Stanton said Industry had already pledged to work constructively with the ACMA – via the inquiry and through the current review of the Communications Alliance Telecommunications Consumer Protections (TCP) Code – to pursue world class performance in customer service and complaint handling in Australian communications.

“Australian service providers are already making significant investments to improve performance in these areas, as evidenced by the 23.5% fall in overall complaints to the TIO during the past 12 months.”

“The ACMA inquiry will provide opportunities to further improve the industry’s self-regulatory performance.”
