Review of the Telecommunications Consumer Protections Code
Communications Alliance has released for public comment an Issues Paper to guide the review of the Telecommunications Consumer Protections (TCP) Code.
The Issues Paper proposes areas of focus for the review of the TCP Code and Guideline and outlines priorities identified in submissions already received from the telecommunications industry, regulators and consumer representatives.
This review aims to identify whether a need exists to amend the Code and Guideline.
The TCP Code regulates the behaviour of telecommunications service providers in areas including billing, credit management, complaint handling, customer contracts and the information contained in advertising. The Guideline is designed to aid in interpreting the TCP Code rules and provide examples of how a Supplier may choose to comply with the rules.
Comments received will be considered by the TCP Code Steering Group to prepare a specific recommendation for Communications Alliance. The outcome of the review will be a decision to revise, reconfirm or withdraw the Code and Guideline. Should it be required, the Steering Group will also identify any issues with the Code and Guideline to assist in scoping the revision.
The Code and Guideline can be downloaded from:

Comments on the review are requested by 5 p.m. on Friday 16 July 2010.
