National Broadband Network

Overview

The Rudd Government has committed up to $4.7 billion to a new open access National Broadband Network (NBN). The NBN will provide high-speed, fibre-based broadband, with downlink speeds of at least 12 megabits per second to 98 per cent of Australian homes and businesses.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) has been released along with an invitation to industry and public interest groups to provide submissions on regulatory issues associated with the NBN.
